Whisper Notes for Android: Not Available

Whisper Notes runs on iPhone and Mac only. There is no Android version, we are not building one, and any APK claiming to be Whisper Notes is fake. Here's what actually works on Android instead.

There is no Android version of Whisper Notes, and we are not building one.

Any 'Whisper Notes for Android' Download Is Fake

We distribute Whisper Notes only through the Apple App Store and our own domain, whispernotes.app. There is no listing on Google Play, no APK, and no beta. If a store page, an APK mirror or a 'mod' site offers Whisper Notes for Android, it is not ours — treat it as malware. The same applies to Windows: there is no Whisper Notes outside Apple platforms.

What Actually Works on Android

You can run offline transcription on an Android phone — just not with our app. Two options that keep the audio on the device, and one boundary worth stating plainly:

whisper.cpp-based Android apps (free, open source) — whisper.cpp compiles for Android, and several wrapper apps put a file picker and a model download in front of it. This is the realistic route to true offline transcription on Android today. Quality and maintenance vary a lot between them, so check when the app was last updated before you trust it with a long recording.
Google Live Transcribe (free) — live captions as someone speaks, not transcription of an audio file you already have. On Pixel phones the recognition runs on the device; on other Android hardware it depends on the phone and the language, so check the app's own settings if staying offline is the point.
Otter, Notta and Rev have Android apps, but they transcribe in the cloud — the audio is uploaded to their servers. If shared meeting notes and team access are what you need, that is a fair trade and those apps do it well. If you came here for offline, they are not it — transcription that never leaves the device is what Whisper Notes does, on iPhone and Mac.

Will There Be an Android Version?

No — and we would rather say that plainly than leave the question open. Whisper Notes' speed comes from Apple's Neural Engine, the dedicated AI chip in every modern iPhone and Mac, which is what lets transcription run many times faster than realtime on a phone in your pocket. Android has no single equivalent to build against: the accelerators differ by chip vendor, by generation and by handset, so the same model that flies on an iPhone can crawl on a mid-range Android device. We would rather keep the Apple apps good than ship something we could not stand behind. If that ever changes, we will announce it on this page — there is nothing to sign up for in the meantime.
