Whisper Notes for iOS worked on Mac, but the iPad-style interface felt wrong. We rebuilt it from scratch for macOS. This is Mac Whisper Notes—a proper desktop app.
Rebuilt for Desktop
The iOS app technically ran on Mac, but users complained. Small windows, mobile UI, limited functionality. Not what a Mac app should be.
Mac Whisper Notes is designed for macOS. Bigger screen, full keyboard support, better file handling. Uses your Mac's processing power properly.

What Works
1. Faster Offline Transcription
Mac Whisper Notes runs the Whisper AI model locally on your Mac. M-series chips handle it faster than iPhone:
- • Faster than iOS version (MacBook M2 processes 10 minutes of audio in ~63 seconds)
- • Same Whisper AI accuracy as the iPhone app
- • 80+ languages, works offline
- • Audio never leaves your Mac
2. Import Audio Files
Already have recordings? Import them. No cloud upload, processes everything locally:
- • Drag and drop audio files from Finder
- • Supports MP3, WAV, M4A, and most common formats
- • Transcribe meetings, lectures, interviews, podcasts
- • No internet needed, no subscription
- • Process hours of audio offline
Import audio files directly from your Mac for private, offline transcription
3. Timestamps
Transcripts include timestamps. Useful for long recordings:
- • Every paragraph gets a timestamp
- • Click timestamp to jump to that part of the audio
- • Good for editing hour-long meetings or lectures
- • Export with timestamps included
